Amazing story to unite together two so different thinkers. Your apocryphal story reminded me a real story about Dostoevsky and Turgenev meeting n Baden -Baden, in 1869 during his and his young wife honeymoon travel. D. lost all the money in gambling and went to Turgenev, m.b., to borrow money. Turgenev helped out before. He returned very irritated, remembered his wife.Their quarrel was long and well known among the writing clan.
