What a treat to read this again. I picked up so much from the early part of the story that I missed the first time. The careful plants and setups, what meticulous craft, Adam! And this nearly broke me: "stare too hard into the Ink, and it will drive a black spike through your heart. Ten seconds after that you’re crying because you think you’re seeing God."
